Creamy cinnamon hot chocolate
It is very easy to make healthy hot chocolate with homemade oat milk. Here's a secret to a thick, creamy and delicious hot chocolate.
Servings: 2 portions
Ingredients
- ¼ cup oat flakes
- 2 cups water
- 5 soft dates
- 3 tablespoons cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 2 ice cubes
- 1 pinch of salt
Instructions
- Blend the water with the oats and the ice cubes for a maximum of 30 seconds.
- Strain it through a cheesecloth or vegetable milk bag without crushing it too much so that the excess of "slime" does not come out.
- Return the milk to the blender along with the dates, cocoa, vanilla, cinnamon and pinch of salt.
- Blend until smooth and place in a small saucepan to heat and whisk further to froth.
- Enjoy hot or warm with a dollop of whipped cream and more cinnamon for garnish.
- Sweetener: Swap the dates for 3 to 4 tablespoons of maple syrup if desired. It will be less thick but it works as well.
