Oatnog: Vegan oatmeal cream punch

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup. Oats
  • 2 cups. Oat milk
  • 2 tbsp. chia
  • ¼ cup. Maple syrup or sugar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla essence
  • 2 tsp. Powdered cinnamon
  • ½ tsp. powdered nutmeg
  • ¼ tsp. Powdered cloves
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • Rum *optional

Instructions
 

  1. In a blender, mix the oats, oat milk and chia seeds.
  2. Strain using a very fine strainer or a sieve.
  3. Mix with the rest of the ingredients: maple syrup, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves and the pinch of salt.
  4. If you wish to add rum, do so and mix again.
  5. Let the mixture stand in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes for the chia to thicken the drink.
  6. Serve cold and garnish with an extra pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg and vegan whipped cream.

Notes

  • For a thicker OatNog, you can let the mixture stand longer or add more chia.
  • Adjust the sweetness to your liking by adding more maple syrup or sugar.
  • If you prefer it hot; heat the beverage over low heat while stirring until lukewarm.
  • The rum is optional, but you can substitute it with almond extract for a different touch without alcohol.
