Vegan French Bread with Oat Crust

Ingredients

For the French bread

  • 1 cup Oat milk
  • 2 tbsp flaxseeds
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup
  • 1 tbsp corn starch
  • 4 slices of Bread
  • Oil as needed

Oatmeal crust

  • 1 1/2 tbsp Instant oatmeal
  • 1 tsp cinnamon

To serve

  • Fresh strawberries or fresh mixed berries
  • Maple syrup

Instructions

  • Mix all the ingredients for the French bread in a large bowl, except for the bread slices.
  • Let the mixture stand for 10 minutes for it to thicken.
  • While waiting for the mixture thicken, mix the oatmeal with the cinnamon in a shallow bowl and set aside.
  • Heat a frying pan over medium heat, use a little oil to prevent your bread from sticking.
  • Dip the bread in the mixture for approximately 20 to 30 seconds per side, depending on the thickness of your bread.
  • Dredge the bread in the oatmeal-cinnamon mixture and coat thoroughly.
  • Cook in the pan for 2 to 3 minutes per side until lightly browned.
  • Serve along with strawberries or berries and maple syrup to taste.
